I was looking at someone the other day and thinking,
“Wow, they look good… for their age.”
And then it hit me.
I am their age!
I’m pretty sure just a minute ago, I was the younger one.
The one who didn’t make noise getting off the couch.
And let’s talk about bedtime.
There was a time—not that long ago—when 9:00 pm meant, “The night is just getting started.”
Now 9:00 pm is like…“Don’t talk to me, don’t text me, don't call me, I’m already emotionally in my pajamas.”
And if I stay up past 11?
The next day feels like I made a series of very bad life choices….And that’s without wine!
But here’s the thing.
I don’t feel old.
I still laugh at stupid things.
I still think I can wear whatever I want (and sometimes regret it later).
I still have no idea what I’m doing half the time.
I just feel like… me.
Just with more stories.
More perspective.
And apparently… more sounds when I stand up.
And maybe that’s the part nobody really tells you.
You don’t suddenly “become old.”
You just keep being you…
and one day, you realize
you’ve been upgraded to a category you were not mentally prepared for.
Which is exactly why I created this Dolly Mama.
Because the minute that thought popped into my head...
“When did I become the same age as old people?”
I knew I couldn’t be the only one.
And based on how many of you laugh, comment, share, and say
“OMG that’s me…”
Yeah… we’re all in this together.
So if you’ve recently:
• looked in the mirror and thought, “When did I become my grandmother!?”
• made a noise getting up
• forgotten what you did as you are doing it
• or gotten excited about canceling plans
Welcome.
You’re in the right place.
And just so you know…
You’re not old.
You’re just…
seasoned.
experienced.
and slightly creakier.
But still funny.
Still fabulous.
Still very much YOU.
And honestly?
I wouldn’t trade that for anything. Well… I would like my skin to have stayed attached to my neck…but hey….It could be worse!
