Fishnet stockings & Pajamas

Well, it's official...I am not only in the magazine, I also made the cover!  I can't believe it...I feel like Steve Martin in the movie "The Jerk" when he gets his first phone book.  "I'm somebody!"

This crazy experience started on a cold December morning when Rachel Beck photographed my studio for the magazine "Where Women Create."  Of coarse before that, I drove everyone crazy on what outfit to wear and hoped that my hair would behave itself that day.  I had one shot at this and a whole lifetime to pick it apart. I wanted to make sure I got it right.  I chose a black dress with fishnet stockings.  What was I thinking?  I can't speak for other artists, but I am not usually the type to prance around in my studio dressed like I'm going to perform in a drag queen show.  Usually, I am in my pj's drinking coffee.  And...did you take a look at the pink feathery thing I chose to wear on my belt?  It looks like something I would strap on in a striptease dance.  (Not that I would know...sorry mom). I need to get over myself.  I am in the most fabulous magazine!   Alrighty now, so, as the grown-up version of myself reflects on this experience, I have to say, I do have a beautiful studio that inspires me every day.  I am grateful for all of the furniture that people threw on the side of the road for me to pick up and I, as hard as it is to say..."I am somebody", I'm not sure who yet; but hey...it's a start!
